Gym Mistakes Beginners Make

Gym Mistakes Beginners Make

First time entering the gym can give you a sense of overwhelm looking at all those weights and machines. You can also get into something called as ego lifting all because you feel a false sense of peer pressure because everyone around you is lifting more than you (or it may seem). All this can force you to commit 10 most common beginners mistake you should avoid.

Lifting for your ego

When you lift weight that is out of your limit just to impress the opposite sex, friends or some of your peers its simple stupidity, period. Ego lifting is far by the most common mistake first time gym goers do.
Going gym for the first time your aim should be to master the form and not to impress someone. Showing off can get you seriously injured.

Learn gym etiquettes

Hundreds of people sweat at gym and it makes it an ideal place of bacteria to spread. Make sure you wipe out the machine or bench when you are done, learn a little about gym etiquettes and try to maintain gym environment hygienic.

Always put gym weights back and this is not with beginners but all level of trainers. From the very first day make habit of putting weights to their place when you are done.
Socializing

Gym should be a place where you should get a great workout and not only for socializing. Little bit of talks are great but ensure your socializing should not take over the workouts. Mostly beginners are caught taking too long breaks between sets just because they are socializing don’t be that guy.

Avoiding Collars

Best way to build muscles is to use free weights, but you also get injured the most lifting them. Free weights are not fixed like machines therefore you need to learn to balance. When using barbell to do bench press or squat chances are high that you your dominate side will be upper than the other causing weight to unbalance, using collars will prevent this.
Collar keeps the weight in place and you can always focus on form rather than worrying about weight falling off.

More is not always better

Quality over quantity always wins be it any field. Same holds true for lifting weights. Always keep a limit to how much weight you will be lifting and do 5 sets of 8 to 12 reps maximum.
Also maintain a 60-90 seconds rest between sets and it is not necessary to always increase weights between sets.

Not maintaining proper form

First time gym goers are always guilty of not using proper form. Not maintaining proper will not only lead to no benefits it will also make you susceptible to injuries.
Therefore your aim should always be to avoid these mistakes in gym.
