The first day of the week is like a clean slate.
Kick-starting a grueling exercise regime or cutting out
caffeine only doesn't feel the same on a Wednesday as it does on a Monday.
If you think about it, though, there's no evidence to
suggest that lifestyle changes actually work if you start them at the opening
of the week/month/year.
Post weekend binging, your resolve and remorse may be
stronger come Monday, but this state of mind is actually functioning against
you - Monday is officially NOT the day to cut carbs or start doing 1000 sit-ups
a day.
This is based on research in print in the European Journal
of Clinical Nutrition , which breaks down our eating patterns.
What we tend to do is eat the the majority meat on Saturdays
and Sundays, the most carbs and alcohol on Fridays and Saturdays with the most
calories being obsessive on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Monday then comes round and we repent, restricting ourselves
to tofu dust and kale stalks.
Dietician Jaime collection spoke to Women's Health and
stated, "Typically, the 'I'll get back on track on Monday principle' is a treacherous
one.
"It indicate and all-or-nothing mentality, which can
lead to unhealthy eating habits overall,"
What this routine does mean according to collection is
"You'll also start to associate the weekend with delectable food and the
weekdays with restriction."
This, in turn, makes it harder to enjoy hale and hearty food
on a Monday, makes us extra prone to caving and also means we're now indulge in
unhealthy eating practises.
Mass' advice is simple. "Remember that you’re making an
effort to lead a healthy life, not just a healthy five days," she told
Women's Health .
So multiply out your treats over the week and don't go too foolish
at the weekend.
